Mleader block text is bound to a single layer

Say I have 3 layers:

  1. Layer 1: Text
  2. Layer 2: Circle
  3. Layer 3: Box

I create a standard mleader as mtext in Layer 1. I am able to change the layer that the mleader object exists in. The arrow+line and text move to the layer specified.

I create a new style from the Standard and modify it's properties to be an mleader as block with Circle, then create an mleader in Layer 1. If I select the mleader and specify for it to be in a different layer, the circle and line+arrow move to the specified layer but the text is bound to Layer 1. So if I make Layer 1 invisible, the text is invisible.

The layers are not locked or frozen.

I'm sure it is something simple that I am missing, please help. Thanks!

from your description alone, without sample DWG file with this content, you appear to be simply fighting how AutoCAD works, not much else.

Has this concept ever worked for you?
and if I may ask, why do you need 3 separate layers for an MLEADER object? I'm not understanding that workflow, maybe I'm missing something.

Hi Pendean,

Thanks for the reply. Wish I could share the actual file, I am working on
but work policies will not allow me to do so. I will try and set up a demo
file later tonight.

My model space is a large warehouse building with a lot of detail for
various systems. I am using blocks as callouts to point out locations of
hardware that can be easily missed due to the scale of the actual building
and each device being so small within the space. Each system has a seperate
set of callouts which I would only like to be visible in the specified
viewports.

The problem right now is that the text of an mleader (as block with a
circle) assigned to a layer (for example layer 2) does not go invisible
when I use VP freeze or turn off visibility. It seems to be bound to the
layer I first created an mleader of that type in.

Hope this is a better explanation.
