LT 2006 patch for Windows 7 RTM

Is there a patch available to get LT 2006 to run under Windows 7 RTM? I have installed SP1 and all other relevant patches but the application won't launch. Getting the following error when launching:

Win7 has not shipped yet. Patches, when available, are for shipping products
only.

Historically speaking, LT2006 will most likely not be patched ever, (4)
versions back from current LT2010. Try Win7's Compatibility Mode for old
software, or step back to WinXP.

Win 7 has a virtual XP mode that may work where compatibility modes won't.
