Hello,

I'm attempting to link an excel table to an autocad file.  I've never done this before I'm using Autocad 2015 but the file will be worked on in Autocad 2014 LT by my client.  Can you link excel files to autocad LT?  I've attempted to link the excel document using the "datalink" but I keep getting a message "link cannot be created because excel cannot be found".  I do have excel on my computer and its working, I'm not sure what I doing wrong or if I should be using a different command.

Thanks for your help

Sarah

Here are a couple of links to read through that might help with your issue.  I found the first one searching the autodesk knowledge network, I found the second one using a forum search.

Autodesk Knowledge Network link

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-lt/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Err... cannot be created because excel cannot be found

Link from forum search

One problem could be trying to use 64 Bit autocad with 32 Bit excel or vise versa. If thats the issue the only way to get data link to work is make both programs the same (not a real option for allot of people) what you can do is, highlight and copy the section of excel table you want and simply paste it into autocad. Once the table is there right click on it and go to open OLE object and it will bring up your excel file, make your changes hit save and close and the cad table will update. also there is the paste special command witch will give you an "cad looking table". If your trying to use the tables in conjunction with data extraction it gets a bit more tricky
