Layer Pulldown lags in LT 2020

Is anyone experiencing a lag when selecting the layer pulldown menu in LT 2020?

Progran hangs for several seconds when selecting the layer pulldown.

There was similar issue and it was resolved by fixing windows 1903 bug. Kindly create below two folders in the location below and see if this helps.

  1. Press Windows key + R
  2. Type:C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\
  3. Hit Enter
  4. Create the folder 'TileDataLayer'
  5. Open it then create another folder called 'Database'

Hope this is helpful. kindly 'Accept solution' if it works. thanks,

Hi;

It doesn't make sense to type the following-- not possible to do:

Press Windows key + R Type:C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\
Local\
No such location exists. See screenshot below.

@Anonymous - it should exist on a Windows machine. Perhaps you do not have all of the file viewing options configured correctly.

Initially when I entered the path thru the <windows+r> command, I got a message that I did not have permission to access that folder.  I was able to manually access it thru File Explorer and add the folders.  I'm just starting to try it out.  I'll let you know if it works for me.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just added the folders.  Will try for a few days and report back.

Initial feedback seems positive.

Thanks-- I found the pathway. The initial suggestion of "windows button +R" was what threw me off-- I couldn't figure out how to do that, still can't. But I went there manually and added the suggested files.

Will report back if it works.

Please report if it worked.. will have to contact IT to gain permission to add these folders and don't want to bother if it doesn't fix the issue. Thank You

after a few weeks I have only noticed a little improvement.  Sorry to say that the issue continues.  Back to using LT 2019.

I'm having the issue as well. I'm using layer manager as a filter and wonder if that's the problem. will try it without, but it is a tool that I use often and it never caused the layer pulldown to lag in the past. Hope there's a resolution soon!

I found that I had a huge memory leak problem. (who knew memory could leak?)
Since I followed these instructions I've had several weeks of good reaction time on the layer pulldown.

Unfortunately I have not done extensive testing with the latest fix suggestion.  Just a few smaller drawings that lasted a couple of hours here and there.  My system still defaults to 2019 so that's what I've been using most of the time.

With the suggested folders added, 2020 seemed to work OK for those smaller drawings.  There was still a longer delay to the layers drop-down menu than with 2019 but it never locked my AutoCad for more than a few seconds at a time.  As I mentioned previously, the delay in the menu would get worse throughout the day and become unbearable after 5-6 hours of continuous work.  So before I say this fix worked for me, I'd like to use the program for a full day.

Wow... I just applied the "Memory Leak" fix aubiedown posted and the layer menu is initially much quicker to respond.   In fact, there is almost no delay at all.  I'm going to work in 2020 all day today.  I'll let you know how it works after an extended use but so far it looks promising...

FYI - I knew memory could leak.  My understanding is older Ryzen motherboards have quite a few memory issues.  I wonder if this issue is prevalent on Ryzen systems like mine (Ryzen 1700x processor on an ASUS Prime x370-Pro Motherboard at work and a Ryzen 2700x on an ASUS TUF Gaming MB at home)

OK... It's the end of the day and my drop down layer menu still has very little, if any, lag.  Every once in a while, after working in other programs, it will take 2-4 seconds to open but after that if goes back to normal.  Right now it is comparable to my AutoCAD LT 2019.

This fix still looks very promising.  However, while the drawing set I'm working on has been open all day, I was paying more attention to other things in the office.  I only worked on the drawings for a few hours total.  I'd really like a full day of intense drafting before I can call this completely fixed.

I have the exact same issue. i have only ever used ACAD LT 2020 so i thought it was a standard thing that i had to just deal with..

Would love a solution for this!

If you've tried "everything" and it still does not help, you will need to report the problem to Autodesk then wait for a patch or update to fix it, the more folks that do it the better. you can start here https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback

Here is "everything" if you need to try once more https://www.google.com/search?q=autocad+2020+layer+pulldown+slow
