Hover (preview selection) highlighting keeps items highlighted

Hi Everyone,

I'm running into the problem that when I am editing a (dynamic) block in block editor, it keeps items highlighted even when I'm not hovering over them any longer. the only way to remove the highlight is to either close and open the block editor, or to use the command REGEN, canceling or pressing the esc button does not remove the highlight. when I turn off the preview selection "when a command is active" it also stops doing this, but the point is that I like selection preview so I want it turned on. In modelspace or paperspace this problem does not occur, items will be de-highlighted when I stop hovering over them so it is specifically in the block editor.

Objects stay "highlighted" if they are selected, and when the mouse is hovering over an object, never any other time here in BEDIT command, I'm not seeing what you describe at all.

Share with us screenshots of your ABOUT and GRAPHICSCONFIG command pop-ups please, and confirm your OS version.

EDIT: forgot to ask, if you just run REGEN or REGENALL does the selection deselect?

thanks for the fast reply. If I understand correctly, this is what you mean (see pictures). I know that items are highlighted when selected or when you hover over them without selecting. My problem is that once I hover over an object, it keeps being highlighted even if I am not hovering over it any longer (WITHOUThaving it selected ofcourse). this behaviour only occurs in block editor. It is also not verry consistent, it feels like sometimes the higlight freezes or something. REGEN fixes it, but I want to use block editor without constantly using REGEN.

You do not have the 2023.1.2 Update yet: get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards.

If that did not help... start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and change the 2D Display Settings pulldown from "advanced mode" to one of the other choices.

If all else fails, then turn off Hardware Acceleration as a last resort on that same pop-up. I see LT2023 is already set to DirectX11 which can mean your video card/driver cannot keep up with the program.

I got directx12 to work, i'm working with a quadro t1000 4gb gpu, my hp z g6 workstation is 3-4 years old. I figured it should be working just fine with AutoCAD LT. I'm also not working with very complex drawing files, just some floorplans (small rental properties) with dynamic blocks (some simple doors and windows that I can modify). What i don't understand is that the problem only occurs in block editor and not in the paperspace, I would say that my overall drawing experience is very smooth apart from the preview highlight issue.

using other configurations than advanced mode or turning off hardware acceleration does not improve anything.

I also installed AutoCAD LT 2024, it does exactly the same thing...

2 versions having the same issue, I'm looking at the PC / Settings ... 

Have you tried a different file / create new with say a default template?

I just tried to insert the dynamic block in another template, acadltISO dwt for this instance. but the highlight preview in block editor behaves the same as in my personal templates. It would really surprise me if the specs I mentioned above are not enough for what i want to do.

I'm not saying the PC as in Hardware are an issue... 

Have you tried a totally new dynamic block and tested it? 

I would look at updates, but it's 2 versions. So that ( in my mind) eliminates looking at those

The T1000 is certified.

ah, I get it.

I just tested multiple dynamic blocks that all have this issue, it does look that the "heavier" the dynamic block, the faster it has the highlight issue. With normal non-dynamic blocks it is working fine. I feel we are getting closer to the solution, I already made a ticket with product support, and also provided the link to this thread. We will soon know the problem and possible solution I hope.
