Group Filters for Xref Layers

Hi,

I am doing an electrical design for a commercial building. In my drawing, I have the architectural floor plan attached as an XRef and I place my electrical symbols in the current drawings.

My question is in regard to Group Filters for layers. I have a Group Filter made for a few of the layers in the XRef (ceiling grid, lighting layouts, millwork etc) that I need to reference often. The problem I am having is that every time I save and close the drawing the Group Filter is emptied. When I open the drawing again to work on it I have to re-drag the XRef layers into the Group Filter again.

Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Sounds you are working without (means: off) VISRETAIN [F1]

This way, the xref layers are not stored in your main file

and layers which are not part of the drawing, you can not keep in a groupfilter.

(but you can create a layer property filter).

Or you have to turn on Visretain - if it is a usable way for your workflow.
