Export Layout Command Producing Drawing Files that are not Valid

Hello,

When I use the Export Layout Command I produce files that AutoCAD recognizes as not valid. I've attached a screen shot of what that response looks like. I have been able to successfully perform this command in the past, but for some reason the files I'm producing now won't open. I am attempting this command from a paper space layout, with a viewport and objects inside just as I had in the past. There are no xref's in the drawing. Has anyone else encountered this Issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

LT version is...?
Windows version is....?
Did you only try it in this one file, or does it fail in ALL files?

Your screenshot is so tiny it's useless to me: hope others can squint that hard to see what you posted.

If you reset to your settings to default (save a copy of your settings as needed) does this issue still happen?

Does this happen for all windows user profiles, or only one?  For instance, if you log on as a different windows user, does the issue still happen?

The screenshot is difficult to read maybe try attaching the file.

I also tested the command in AutoCAD release 2014-2017 and I was unable to reproduce your issue. Please also provide the additional information about your work environment. That will help when troubleshooting your issue.

Hey guys, Thanks a lot for your help.

I'm running Win 7 64bit and AutoCAD LT 2017.

I can still export layouts from other files. It just seems to be a series of about a dozen or so files I received from a specific person. She is using the full version of AutoCAD. I have the same problem on both my office and home installations of LT, and my trial of the full version of full AutoCAD. It appears that the created file has no size, or 0kb, in explorer. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to post the file, it's a 50mb mess of about 100 clipped blocks with tons of hidden layers, objects, ect. That's why I was really hopping I could leave all that unneeded stuff behind with something easy like a layout export.

Thanks again

In the problem file, create a new layout tab and copy over the viewports and content from he "bad" layout: SAVE your file and try to export this new layout only. Does it work?

You can post file sizes up to 75MB here if you want I believe: or use a service like DROPBOX so you can remove the file from being accessed after the problem is identified by us here.

Hi,

Following up on your thread, would you mind attaching a file here?

If you resolved your issue could you please post back what worked or reply with additional information if the problem persists.

To add to this thread you can also try the following;

  1. Try cleaning up the drawing and layouts.
  2. Follow the suggestions in this AKN article
