excel link will not open in cad 2012

Anonymous
Not applicable

hi - my designer has Excel 2007 and cad 2012 LT.  He linked a table into the plans.

I have Excel 2010 and cad 2012.  I opened the plans, i double click on the table he just inserted with 'paste special link', and the excel table will not open for me to edit.

When I linked the same table into the plans, he was unable to double click the table in cad to open the table to edit it.

the cad error is 'FAILED TO LAUNCH SERVER APPLICATION'

I am not sure if it is because he has cad 2012 LT and I have the full version?

Is it cause the different version of Excel?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Different Excel versions: for some reason MSOffice apps' OLE objects inside AutoCAD seem to be version specific.

It's been around for years, not sure there is a cure just a bunch of workarounds.

If you find a confirmed cure, do share it.

Do you mind sending the drawing and the Excel file so that I can have a look?

Hi,

I would like jsut to check if I can reproduce the issue with your files.

Once there was an OLE hotfix released for a similar issue and, if I can reproduce the issue with your file (I don't have Office 2007 to start from scratch), I will send them to our developers and maybe they can create a similar hotfix.

Let me know if you need further assistance with this matter.

Cheers,

Luciane
