How do I change from drawing on the x-y

axis. I was shown once a loooong time ago
but because I so rarely do it, I need a

UCS
x
90 (or 270)
...puts you in the x-z plane;

UCS
y
90 (or 270)
...puts you in the y-z plane.

If UCSFOLLOW isn't on (= 1), you will also have to use the PLAN command
to update your screen after changing the UCS.

UCS
w
...will put you back in WCS.
