Dimensions won't show on drawing

Hello to all.,

I am working on a drawing that another person created.  BUt this drawing will not allow me to add dimensions from an object to another. When I click the linear tab and select my area to measure it will show me only the measurement and then when I press enter it disappears. also doesn't show me the blocks of the linear dimension.

Is the layer that the dimensions are created on OFF / FROZEN?

If possible can you post a drawing so we can have a look as well.

I can't tell what you've investigates so far so here goes, or if you simply asked the other fella for help yet:
DIMLAYER command is set to what? And is that what you want, and is it on/thawed? Find out.
Or is your current layer turned off/frozen as you draw these inside a viewport with layer overrides?
