Dimension Variable question

I'm curious to know if it's possible to control variables for the dimension continue command.  I use this quite a bit but I've noticed that the variable for Fit, text movement is set for "move text, add leader".  I would like it to default to "keep dim line with text".  Is it possible to change this default globally?  If so, I would make this change in my dwt. file.

Check your dimension style. Dim Continue always follows what settings you have in your dim style.

There doesn't appear to be a setting for "Dim Continue" in the dimstyle dialog box under the "fit" tab or anywhere else.

no, I'm not seeing anything.  there is a command called "dimcontmode", but it doesn't have a setting for fit.

DIMSTYLE command is where you set the "fit" that you desire: this would apply to ALL the dimensions you crate with that one dimstyle.

what LT version are you using? And what is DOMCONTINUEMODE set to exactly? If you looked it up in help, it may be using a wrong setting inherited from the dim you started with? The statement made earlier about dimcontinue following the dimstyle can be overridden.

If I do a dim linear and base a dim continue off it, then select the 1st one: in properties, Fit, text movement shows "Keep dimension line with text";

then, select the continued dimension: in properties, fit, text movement shows "move text, add leader".

I see no such variable for any dimension in the dimstyle dialog box.

also, curiously, the system variable, dimtmove, has three settings.  the default is 0 (moves dim line w/dim txt).  so, the question is, why does the system variable change to 1 (ad a leader when dim txt is moved) for the continued dimension?

Not applicable

DIMTIX is the variable, turn it on. Defaults to off.

Thank you for asking! That has bothered me enough to not use dimcontinue, but I've always just clicked my way around that one. Hopefully this doesn't break something else we like.

If you have no idea what anyone here is writing to help, post your DWG file and point to the DIM you are wishing to "continue' from and we can all decipher the real problem for ourselves.

Um, sorry, but no.  DIMTIX is already set to "on".  still does it.
