DIM STYLE PULL DOWN BAR WIDTH

Dear SIR,

We have in issue of short width of dimension scale pull down bar in ACAD LT. It is difficult to read and select the dimension style based on our office naming system.

We understand by shorten the DIM STYLE name will resolve this, however, ALL of our drawing are with this long DIM STYLE name. it is impossible to click in every drawing to rename it.

Can you assist in widening the DIM style pull down bar?

Thank you very much.1.jpg

Your choice of using old-school toolbars means there is no built-in option to do what you want:

If you use the RIBBON instead, you can set it to a fixed wider width or automatic width (the default setting) in CUI (and you can move it from it's hidden location to some place more prominent as well).

thank you Dean for the solution.

hi Emmsley,

It will be good if i can expand the pull down bar in ACAD CLASSIC toolbar as my whole office are using ACAD classic interface.

ACAD classic interface still my first choice as i prefer bigger working space rather than tool bar space on the screen.

thanks.

FYI the Classic Interface is dead and gone at Autodesk: it was just late coming to AutoCAD/LT, they've implemented it over the last few years with all the other AutoCAD variants.

You all need to start working on migration: pretty soon it will be tough to even put it back. The Ribbon is just a toolbar with Tabs, customize it and explore using the QAT as well as pulldown menus to get back some of that classic look but still take advantage of the newer interface.

No It's not. It has advantages, but it also has disadvantages. Most heard complaint about Ribbon use is that it constantly searching for right spot of the function. Resulting in looss f time clicking and looking. So, therefore I use a combination of both Ribbon and Classic Toolbar. The most important i have on my toolbar VISIBLE CONSTANTLY. Request for adjustable width is still a valid Wish! See att.

You need to experience it, not just rely on what you hear from others with their own biases 🙂

And it is fully customizable: you can move all of your favorite items to the front. and don't forget, the QAT is one very long always-on toolbar too which can easily replace your one toolbar with all the pulldowns and red buttons. AS I see it, it's just wasted space now in your screenshot.

Try it, don't fear it. It will take you a week to get comfortable with it, and in a month you'll wonder why you never switched earlier.

This is my full AutoCAD daily screen: uber-customized, I only mouse for buttons/menus for seldom used functions

Is it possible to get this done in a partial custom cui part?

I think your image shows you amodifying the main CUI of AutoCAD. 'No can do'

For most LT and AutoCAD users at our office, the first two tabs are from a customized CUIx file loaded with CUILOAD command, there remaining tabs are from the Enterprise CUIs file that no one can change or modify but is basically the core program CUIx file. Users here are allowed to edit and customize the former as they wish since it it loaded from their PC, but most do not change it much. See the two custom tabs below

My setup screenshot is from a my personal AutoCAD "cad manager" Profile, not the company AutoCAD Profile, but it's not too far from the OOTB setup since I really am not a button pusher and tend to keep the ribbon minimized most of the day. Here is a screenshot with the Ribbon expanded and not minimized (you do know you can minimize it, right?)

Some of us don't get paid by the hour or salary, we get paid for what we get done. New UI just means lost time and money to some of us. I am on hr 65 this week and it's only Saturday morning, who has time to learn new UIs!

If they are not willing to change the width, can they change the font or the font width factor, we have the same issue but for example, we have a text the says "TITLE-1-4" which we can read but "ROMAN-1-4" shows as "ROMAN-1-".  Same amount of characters but since "i" is a smaller width and "m" is a larger width it chops off the most important bit of our standards.  A font width factor would help or a change of the font might help too.

How old a version of AutoCAD are you working in at the moment? It's not the year 2018 anymore (the date of this post and the replies to it), below is what modern versions of AutoCAD and LT display these days, more than enough to address your short Style names

I'm using the latest version, 2025.  But I do not use the ribbon.  And not going to switch.

Then you'll have to manually edit the toolbars pulldowns to be as wide as possible, here is now using CUI command:
