Design Center Functionality

OK - so unlike most of the other people with questions relating to the Design Center, I have managed to find the button wherever they hid it.

Unfortunately, having pressed the button, it no longer does the thing I wanted it to: It used to let me browse the network and my local harddrive for drawings, and when I click on them, open up the content of those drawings, in terms of Layer Lists, Dim Styles, Blocks, etc etc. I was then able to select some or all of these properties and DRAG (or copy and paste, or whatever) them into another drawing, so that the Dim Styles, Blocks, Layers would be there, ready (unless there was something already present with the same name, IIRC). Very useful.

NOW what happens is I can see the Layers/Blocks/Dimstyles of any drawings I happen to have open - BUT I CANNOT BROWSE FOR ANY OTHERS, and I cannot drag, or C&P anything between the drawings... Not so useful.

When I try to browse the network, it goes all sulky and eventually pops up an error message.

Is that it? Is this another negative gain? A new feature?

Can you post a screenshot of the Designview dialog box as it appears on your screen,

ALSO look at the icons along the top of the dialog box. The one to the immediate right of HOME (Looks like a house) is called TREE VIEW TOGGLE. Is that on or off? If it's off turn it on.

OK - here it is. Complete with the error message which comes up if I try to browse our network.

The other tab 'Open Drawings' allows me to see the content of drawings I have opened, but as I said, I can't move/copy/drag objects from one drawing to another there either...

Looking at that I assume MEB is meant to be the drive. I have never seen a drive connected like that before.

As a test I would remap your network drive to say Z:\ and see if you browse your folder directory that way. This looks more like a Windows error than an Autocad one.

I also have my drawings on a server and can access them and their blocks using Designcenter.

You seem to be right - ascertained by placing a drawing on my C drive, and accessing all the normal functionality that way.

I was given a shortcut to The Server when I started here - one of the reasons I hadn't noticed how strangely it was configured... not sure if I can do anything about that.
