I did find that my transparency settings had been altered and so I was having difficulty seeing anything! I discovered it while copying. 

so, this issue appears to be fixed for now. I appreciate your help!

"When I copy a text in a file and paste it to a new location within the open file,  the text is behind the background or the color is severely dimmed such that I cannot see the text behind the background. I have changed back ground color and this does not change the issue.  I have checked my preferences and they are correct.   Does any one have an idea of a setting or a solution I am missing here? I use ACAD LT version 2018?"
