Brightness of lines in model space view?

Anonymous

In model space, I am having a hard time seeing my lines against the black back ground. I just installed autocad lt 2019 on a new machine and I imported my favorite CTB files to get my line weights. I draw a lot with white, blue, magenta and various grays. I love my line weights! But on the new machine I can barely see them on the screen. They are too dim...not bright enough. Is there a contrast setting in autocad lt? Can I make the lines and objects more visible on the model screen? Going crazy looking for options. Thanks!

No such setting exists in AutoCAD/LT: you will need to adjust your screen colors in Windows, or tweak the background color in AUtoCAD/LT using OPTIONS command's DISPLAY Tab, COLORS button.

I can let everyone here know what you have for a video card and its diver version there may be other things to try.

Have you explored LT2020 (one year newer than your LT2019 version)? It has a completely different dark theme and "black" background color.

if it's a general CAD issue ... have you try to play with the Brightness mode of your machine . or disable hardware acceleration from GRAPHICSCONFIG .

Can you add a screenshot, so we can see what you are seeing, just in case anything else is going on?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thanks for posting.

I had a similar case where the lines are far too dim. I fixed it by updating the graphics card driver version. Take a look at the Autodesk Knowlede Network article below;

Just loaded AutoCad 2021, had to disable hardware accel in GRAPHICSCONFIG (again) to brighten up dim lines.

Yes, thanks!

I just had to adjust my model background color to black. For some reason, this version of AutoCAD light comes standard with a grey background in model space.

I've had the same problem since I bought a new computer and a new screen. I'm using a NVIDIA graphic card & Autocad LT 2021, with black background. I feel like a can't see anything and my eyes are getting so tired... The lines seems faded and so thin.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The following steps worked for me:
1) type CONFIG
2) click Display tab
3) click "Colors..." box
4) set 2D model space, Uniform background to color Black
5) click System tab
6) click "Graphics Performance..." box
7) set Hardware Acceleration to Off

Hi @sophia_lee ,

I had already forced AutoCAD to use my NVIDIA graphics card months ago. Althought, I had not changed the settings of the card, as shown in your link, which I finally did last week. I think the lines actually look brighter.

Thanks,
