Block issue - spontaneous duplication of objects within, after multiple updates

Let's say I create a block for a building with just a few layers for the building outline, building overhang, and doors. There are no over-lapping objects.

If I close and save the block, and then later on I adjust the block, and continue to do so maybe a few times over the course of a week...at some point I will go in and find that there are duplicates of the block elements (1-7 I think I've seen before). But yet I have not copied these elements in place.

Attached is the .dwg with an early version of a block that is fine and a later version that decided to procreate objects itself.

Notes that may be useful:
-Not a dynamic block
-I often purge and audit all my drawings, including ones that have blocks in which this error occurs
-I'm using 2018 LT currently, but i'm pretty sure I first noticed this problem when we were using 2017 LT.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi CADffm,

I completely forgot this issue until my inbox was full of replies this morning!

Thank you for your response (3+ years ago) - I made the change to ISAVEPERCENT=0 at the time and have not had an issue since.

The issue arose whn we upgraded to ACAD 2017 LT and persisted through to ACAD 2018 LT.

Since changing the ISAVEPERCENT to 0, and continuously using the AutoCAD "Migrate Custom Settings" tool whenever we introduce a new machine to the team or upgrade our software to the next version we have not had this issue present itself again.

Thanks for your help! (albeit a few years late!)

I am having the same or similar issue and can recreate it every time.

maybe something its I am doing wrong??

I made blocks of my machine drawing to move around in my building/showroom layout drawing.

I can insert any single block just fine.  When I insert a second block, I get extra lines in all the blocks from #2 on...

I have tried setting the ISAVEPERCENT=0 or =50, both do the same thing.  I have tried saving the file between inserts and not saving it, both saves do the same thing.

Drawing 1 is a single block insert

Drawing 2 is the same first block and then a second block insert

Drawing 3 is the ISAVEPERCENT=0 then a block insert, QSAVE between and insert a second block

(I went back and forth between just these two files in this test)

To me it looks like when I made the blocks, Autocad is splitting them up and naming the individual components and COMPxx.  Between the different block, each one has COMPxx, so I'm thinking Autocad keeps using the same ones and just adds the "new" ones, keeping the same COMP1, 2, 3, etc.

@Anonymous your Drawing1 Contains all of these blocks already, ever notice? Those don't automagically disappear, and most likely the source of all of your troubles from start to finish. Yes? Do yourself a huge favor, EXPLODE the "one block" in DRAWING1 and see for yourself. Then kep exploding those buried blocks until they are none left, then PURGE your file. You should eventually end up with a drawing that ha no "compxx" blocks in it.

Now you know what is going on with all of your other files from the "compxx" issue.

Then recreate Drawing2 and Drawing3 with clean content instead of contaminated content.

Betreff, you are correct, I need to explode the reset of the drawings, I didnt really notice them before, the Japanese drawing had their own block in there.  Thank you for all your input and guidance.
