AutoCAD LT crashes when I click on visibility states??

Anonymous

Hi,

I'm having a problem when editing a block with visibility states, that whenever I click on the visibility states button on the ribbon to bring up  the states menu AutoCAD LT freezes and crashes. Has anyone had the same problem or know a work around?

Cheers

Mark

Your LT version is...? Is it fully up to date?
Your Windows version is...?
Is the problem only with this one dynblock? Only in this file? Or it happens to all dynblocks and all visibility states in all files and with all blocks?

LT version is 2016

Yes fully up to date

Windows 10 Pro

What is you video card? Have you tried turning off features in GRAPHICSCONFIG pop-up to see if any of that helps?
Are you setting dwg-save to something much lower than 2013dwg file format?

Is Win10 new? LT2016 is 2+years old now, it worked fine with Dynblocks back then for us (but we were in Win7).

Video Card is Intel HD Graphics 530 with NVidia GeForce GTX 960M

Only saving down to 2013 as the other license for the company is 2014.

Win10 is new

Tried changing the graphicsconfig settings but still crashes

I could only find one other instance of this in these forums, see if the tips offered there can help https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/autocad-2014-dynamic-block-crash-with-block-editor/td-p...

Start ABOUT command and post back the exact version it lists for LT2016 please.

You don't have SP1 update installed: go get it, it may help. it never installs on its own, and you never installed it.

Is hardware acceleration on? If so shut if off and see if it still crashes.

Are you submitting any error reports?

It doesn't allow me to. The program just freezes and I end up having to go to the task manager to shut it down. I never have an opportunity to submit an error form

And this is any drawing as in a new drawing? Or just any existing drawing with dynamic blocks?

It's possible that its related to Windows 10 and .Net.

It might be good to upload a drawing for us to test and see if we get similar results.

It seems to be on any drawing where I have visibility states on a dynamic block.

I have attached our drawing template for you to try, there are a number of dynamic block within the template i've tried various blocks and it crashes on all of them.

On the layout page the contractor & client logos are setup as drop downs in a dynamic block. if you go to the block editor and hit visibility states in the ribbon the program freezes and won't respond.

I can change these in your file's layout without crashing at all. I did not see any errors in your file either.

Thanks for having a look.

Changing them in the layout isn't the issue, the problem I'm having is that when I enter the block editor and click on the visibility states button on the ribbon to add some more logos etc that is when the program freezes

Are you sure the dialog box isn't simply off screen? ALT+Spacebar should allow you to move it back if so. The Visibility States button pulls up a dialog and if off screen LT will appear frozen.

Enter the editor on your PC in this file, and post a full monitor screenshot to capture everything, and post it here (keep it full size please).

Do you know how to use the free screen capture tool in Windows? here is quick review to post the image, not to dump it into an MSWord document or anything else https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13776/windows-use-snipping-tool-to-capture-screenshots

Ryan it seems that the dialogue box could be off screen as I can move the mouse around etc but pressing alt+spacebar brings up a menu with options to move/size or close but i've tried to move the dialogue box if it was off screen but with no success.

Pendean.
