I am involved with OSP revising fiber optic cabling from manhole to manhole, butterfly drawings, fiber cables .building entrance, telecommunications rooms....etc.. Most of the information I have found on the forms has involved fiber optic cabling in a manafacturing enviorment. Would anybody have an insight where I would be able to find information, sysmbols etc.. related to the above..? Any help is very much appreciated..

Thx

Hi @Anonymous,

While AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT can draw such geometry they are not industry specific. For some of this it might make sense to explore Civil 3D and for the fiber side, perhaps looking at AutoCAD Electrical and/or AutoCAD MEP.

Each of these products has a community forum and are also available as free 30-day trials if you are interested in testing them.

Thank you very much for your time and thoughts, unfortunately, I work under
the US Gov, Air Force and this is what they buy for me to work with.
Again, thank you for your time, I will just have come up with another
answer and make it work.

John,

Did Autodesk develop a specialized version of AutoCAD LT 2018 for the us Air Force ? I was told this by a base civil engineering cad operator. I just was not sure of that statement.

Thx

Hi @Anonymous,

I am not aware of a "special" version of AutoCAD LT 2018 that is designed for exclusive use by the Air Force.  Any idea of what we think might be unique to such a product?

FYI, I did speak to the Senior Engineer Civil Engineering Dept. and he confirmed that the Gov/AF paid to have a modified version of the Autocad software developed due to their secured network requirements.
