Annotative notes slow file down?

Every since we started using the annotative multi leaders and dimensions our drawing files seem to go really slow. Saving takes a really long time as well as some other commands. Has any body experienced this same problem? Is there a way to purge the unused scales from the leaders and such.

Thanks for the help.

Josh

Typical system details?

I have noticed 2008 is a tad slower than 2007... .

I have a custom built2.4 GHz 2 gigs ram and a nvidia geforce 7300gt.

It seems like drawings got significantly slower in after we started switching to using annotative notes.

AUTODESK!!! PLEASE SOLVE IT!!. I MADE MY HOLE PROJECT WITH ANNOTATIVE BLOCKS AND ITS A PAIN IN THE ASS TO SAVE THEM TO PRE-AUTOCAD 2008 USERS.

I trust you will fix this quick, I really do. Just be quick.

Thanks,

Yes, Anno implementation right now is an external functionality with ghost
blocks etc. not native to the DWG file and is slowing things down. A typical
version1.0 behavior, even though it is useful.
I suspect the next format change for DWG is the cure, which is what, another
two versions away? May be less quirky in LT2009 too, we'll wait and see.

There is no going back for 'previous users', Autodesk cut everyone below
2008 off.
