annotative block scale

I've created an annotative block (for a door tag) but the scale looks all wrong in paper space- what have I done wrong? These are the views in paperspace- I actually want it to be more the size of the nearly invisble veiwport near the bottom (that's the scale in modelspace)

Why "wrong" ?

Check the current Layout annotative-scale

ESC ESC, look into the properties palette CTRL+1

Than switch back to model tab and set the anno-scale to the same scale, is it another size as in Layout?

Each viewport is set to the right annotative scale - ie 1:200 viewport is 1:200 annotative scale etc. Model space annotative scale is 1:50. Basically the block looks the right size in model space but gets HUGE in paperspace viewports- even 1:1 is massive (but annoying offset - assume that's an insert point problem). Is it something to do with what scale modelspace was set to when I

" ie 1:200 viewport is 1:200 annotative scale"

and your block references have the scale 1:200? or do you only display the blockrefrences by ANNOALLVISIBLE?

The simpliest way: Upload sample DWG file with on Blockreference in Modelspace which displayed in paperspace/Layout viewport.
So we can check the scale-definitions,
blockreference and viewport scale informations and your sysvar settings too.
Not possible from a image file.

Then wie can help exactly and don't have to explain "all possibilities"
