Alternatives to AutoCAD LT?

Any decent alternatives to AutoCAD LT?

I need the dynamic blocks and the ability to datalink from Excel mainly.

AutoCAD is just waaay to much of a headache to keep using. It crashes once or twice a day so in total I lose an hour or two of work each week. And each "Update" seems to bring a whole slew of new issues and problems.

There has to be something better for simple 2D drafting.....

Anyone know of a reliable 2D drafting software with datalinks and dynamic blocks??

Not really something we could answer on a forum hosted by Autodesk. Google might help you with that.

However, if you want to share some examples of problems steps you take or process's that cause these issues, someone might be able to help, I have used LT for over 15 years without any of the problems you mention, so let's see if we can figure out how to get you up to full productivity.

No crashes here: ever consider trying to address the causes of the crashes?

Otherwise click here and help yourself, try before you buy, hope the real reasons for the crashing don't tag along since they remain totally unknown https://www.google.com/search?q=alternatives+to+autocad+lt

I have no idea what causes the crashes and various other issues. Each update seems to bring with it new issues though.

I made my template a couple of years ago, and I've been updating it along the way. But I've never had formal AutoCAD training, so I learned as I went along with help from tutorials, google and this forum.

Its about time to revamp/update all my tools & templates, so I'll think I'll spend some time taking a real course or two so I learn how to do things properly, efficiently & using drafting standards.

Real training is always a good idea. That is something I did 20 years ago following a night school course at a local college for a year. And feel free to ask questions here.
