2018 icons thick and blurry

Hi,

Just downloaded 2018 and the buttons are thick and blurry, the drawing is fine and I've checked Resize ribbon icons to standard sizes but they are still out of focus. I migrated out of 2017 (which migrated out of 2015), and previous versions are lovely and crsip.

There's bound to be a simple solution buried in options somewhere?

Thanks to anyone watching.

Excellent, that's about all you can do. Hope if enough people do it it might be put back as an update in the next year of ten.

I'm having the exact same problem as Original Post.

Very blurry looking icons in 2018. I run a 4k display and changing the font percentages has zero effect on this. Both 2016 and 2017 have nice crisp icons so something has obviously changed in this release. 2018 is currently unusable for me as the icons are that awful to look at. Hopefully Autodesk will look into this and release a patch asap.

Yay, I am not alone.

Please Autodesk, provide a patch so those of us who rely on Autocad for a living can work with 2018 WITHOUT buying new monitors, or changing our resolution to the detriment of all other software usage.

Thank you

No, you are not alone!

I  also have another problem, the toolbars do not stay in place when I customise them and rearrange them as per my setup in previous versions. When I restart 2018 LT then next day the toolbars have rearranged themselves as they want again and not as per my profile setup.

I've pretty much given up on 2018 and gone back to 2017!

Autodesk introduced scaled (not new) icons to comply the 4k issue: not much you can do about it, and I'd be very surprised if they will issue a patch for it in LT2018, it's likely to only be fixed in the next version or two (it's not a critical flaw, just cosmetic).

Are you manually unlocking your UI, making changes, manually saving your custom named workspace, then re-locking your UI in LT2018? Works fine here for us in our office.

Yes I am, does not work at all. Not sure why really as I havent had this problem in years.

Anyone, dont want to derail this original thread which is the blurry icon problems.

Nope. Nothing has changed in the way I work, nor apparently in the
way some others have always worked. I've never had this in any
annual update or new version of Autocad until now, I merely imported
all my custom settings as I have done for every release. It's
possible there are more of us with this problem but others might
tolerate the issue. Not my case unfortunately.

Pendean, what 4k issue have they addressed? I use a 4k display and the icons do not work on 4k. 2016 & 17 worked perfectly so I dont see the need for Autodesk to address any 4k issue at all!

AutoCAD/LT2017 with the 2017.1.1 Fall Update (and LT2018) allow for running on 4k displays without you having to resort to font scaling and other gimmicks to make them work, like you did in AutoCAD/LT2016 (and LT2017 without the fall update) and lower.

So, are you running your 4K with manual settings to get it all to work in AutoCAD/LT2016? That may be fighting the fixes implemented in AutoCAD/LT2018 (and 2017.1.1 Update).

I was having issues with resolution and sub-menu icons prior to 2018. The the Fall update to 2017 that dean was talking about fixed my issue.

Just curious...

What version of 2018 are you on right now?

I'm on Product Version: O.61.0.0 AutoCAD LT 2018.0.1

Not using 2018 at all, I am sticking with 2017. I downloaded 2018
and tried to install the latest update but failed (for some reason
it wouldn't install 64 bit). All previous releases never gave me any
bother and I moved my custom settings smoothly. I've been using
Autocad since the 13 release and apart from the occasional hiccup,
usually resolved, my work environment and methodology hasn't much
changed in 22 years.

I am flummoxed by this problem and it seems I am not alone. Which is
comforting, if more than a little frustrating.

What is the exact product version of 2017 tat you are using? Find out using ABOUT command.

What are the exact display settings of your monitor? Resolution setting as well as Text Scaling setting as controlled by Windows OS.

Has a solution been found for this issue?

I'm having the same problem with slightly larger & blurry icons in 2018.

Nope, no solution. It has been suggested that changing your monitor
to a 4K will sort it but another sufferer has a 4K and is still
getting the thick and blurry option. It would be nice if Autodesk
pressed the undo button and gave us back the icons we had before,
which did not need changing.

It's a 'feature' of the 2018s: Autodesk rescaled the icons. They are bigger and blurry since they just scaled them instead of redrawing them.

There is no fix, nothing is broken: the icons were deliberately scaled up by Autodesk in LT2018 to better comply with 4k displays.

I can't help feeling this is an absurdity. What if we all don't want
to change our equipment? I will remain on 2017 until someone at
Autodesk recognises that there are a few of us little voices out
there that need listening to.

It wasn't broke, so don't fix it.

Hello

I have made some adjustments by Windows (Windows 10).

Right click the AutoCAD icon on working area or AutoCAD executable file. Then go to Properties. On Compatibility tab check the DPI Adjustments.

It may vary on Windows version. On Windows 10 Creator you leave it like adjusted by application.

Have a try.

Hilton.
