2018 icons thick and blurry

Hi,

Just downloaded 2018 and the buttons are thick and blurry, the drawing is fine and I've checked Resize ribbon icons to standard sizes but they are still out of focus. I migrated out of 2017 (which migrated out of 2015), and previous versions are lovely and crsip.

There's bound to be a simple solution buried in options somewhere?

Thanks to anyone watching.

Have you applied the update to 2018? I believe you can download that from your Autodesk account's page.

The buttons are 'bigger' in scale in 2018: what is your Windows display settings and text scaling set to?

Hi,

Set to 130% which works fine for everything I use including the 2015
and 2017 versions of Autocad. Don't like the bigger buttons but
really don't like the fuzz. It all feels a bit cheap and nasty.

Surely a fresh download would be the most recent?

There is nothing you can do about 2018's buttons: Autodesk scaled them up as part of addressing high-res 4k displays.

Are you running a 4k display? what is your Windows display settings?

No one ever updates the original downloads at Autodesk: you know this, you've been around for a while.

I said that to make sure you had all your bases covered. Just in case ... Smiley Wink

What build are you running?

Also, are you running AutoCAD LT 2018 on a 4k monitor/ high res?

Updating is failing for some reason. It's downloading at 32bit even though I am checking 64 bit. 'Install Failed - the update could not be installed because the expected Autodesk product could not be located on your computer'. OK. However:

I don't have 4k monitors, so I am on good old fashioned 1680 x 1050. If 2018 has been designed in order to only be crisp on 4K then it is incredibly arrogant to expect everyone to change perfectly good screens. If this is the only reason the buttons are fat and blurry then I will stick with 2017 until either my very expensive iiyama's pack up or I retire.

At 1680 x 1050 you need to be running text sizing in Windows at 100%: bet that fixes all the fuzzies you see in LT2018's icons.

I ran AutoCAD LT 2018 as test on two systems. I didn't seem to get the same issue as you're expereincing.

Try adjusting the windows text size and see if that makes a difference. And then post back with any updates.

Tighter but still soft and I really don't want to work with text this small on a bank of screens. So, as you have delicately pointed out, I have been around the block a few times and I'll take my aging eyes back to a comfortable 130% and stick with 2017.  Thanks for your help on this matter.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this, as I posted to Pendean, I can't work across a bank of computers at 100% comfortably so I'll ditch 2018 and live with 2017.

It's not a problem happy to somewhat help in this instances...

If you haven't already I'd suggest you leave feedback on this release at the product feedback site

Also, feel free to post back in the thread if you do explore back to the 2018 release.

Have a good weekend!

Not enough info, "same" is not relevant here since there are many, which one did you read and assume it was the only problem?

Hi, I have posted on the product feedback page as I am confounded as to why the icons needed to be modified. 4K monitors or not, there was nothing wrong with the small, clean icons as they were. If you reduce your Windows text scaling it tightens up a bit, but we shouldn't have to change our normal working habits to accommodate a bizarre update in Autocad.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I was referring to having the 'same' problems as the original post! Blurry icons!!! If I change my monitor resolution to 100% from 125% the issue goes away but then I am left with icons that are way too small for my liking. Not sure why Autocad thought that this needed to be changed when every issue of the software prior had no issues. It is extremely frustrating.
