2016 - Moving objects to 0,0,0

I have been frustrated by the most insignificant thing this morning. I like setting my drawings up with the bottom left corner set at 0,0,0. Most of the time I just start drawing and then move to this location before hatching or dimensioning. However, with 2016LT when I select all of my line work and the basepoint and type in 0,0,0 nothing happens, no movement at all. I have searched help and looked for a new item that might control this and I am just humbled.

Anyone else had this issue? Were you able to correct it?

I feel like I am a beginner again, drawing a line starting at 0,0,0 and snapping my line work back to that location, then erasing my guideline.

OK, apparently if you are having this issue turn OFF dynamic input. I'm not sure why it isn't working with in ON but it doesn't.

When you type...
@0,0,0 it tells AutoCAD to go to hat relative position (in your case, nothing moves). But you're in charge.
#0,0,0 it tells AutoCAD to move it to your absolute 0,0,0 location. And you are in charge.

0,0,0 asks AutoCAD,with no specific instructions, to do what the heck it wants based on a variable setting in DSETTINGS (or DYNMODE) and ignore your wishes altogether. You're not in charge, the program is.

I'm old-school and I do the above at the top, I type @ or # and always get what I want. Try them out next time.

I was also feeling foolish as I was getting the same effect and was used to AutoCAD simply taking 0,0,0 to move an item to the origin.

It appears that out of the box, AutoCAD LT 2016 has many of the "helpful" items turned ON, one of which is Dynamic Input, which I never use.

Yes, when you turn it off, this acts like they have for the last 25 years I've been using AutoCAD.

Solution: Turn off Dynamic Input (F12)

Also - I have never used # with coordinate designation, ever!

This is the first time I have used AutoCAD LT (I've used AutoCAD for 26 years) so I first thought it was a querk of the LT program, turns out that it just may be a tiny bug in this version.

Never say never: LT2016 is AutoCAD2016 when it comes to dynmode and dsettings options. It's not a bug, you've managed to avoid it until now 🙂

Hitting F12 turns on airplane mode.  Nothing about dynamic anything happens.

Your laptop as F-key overrides: you need to turn that feature OFF before you can use the F-keys properly in AutoCAD.
