Howdy and Hello Autodeskers...

I am currently using 2017 Full Acad. And am having a problem with my XREF command, it literally does nothing. I can use _classicxref , but that is not as efficient as the typical XREF window. I also am using multiple screens, and have scoured the available screen space for a hidden bar that needs to be expanded. It is not there, i have even switched to a single screen to try to find it that way. Can someone give me insight on how to retrieve the xref panel by other methods?

Also the root problem here is, I have a xref from a civil consultant that i cannot bind/insert for archiving process. I have tried deleting the xref and inserting as a block, and received error.

Thank you in advance.

2nd It will not allow me to bind, because of "PROXY OBJECTS". I tried to use the -xref command, and just run through the command lines to get there. What are "PROXY OBJECTS" and how can I get rid of them?

Proxy objects are created by vertical products such as Civil 3D

You can try exporting your file to plain autocad and hopefully that will get rid of the proxy objects.

This is not a forum for ARCHITECTS or those in the industry, this is a forum for a version of AutoCAD called ARCHITECTURE.

Are your files from this different version? Since you only have plain autocad and are posting in the wrong forum altogether. Also ask your CIVIL consultant to "export as autocad" their files before they send them to you.

XREF command is a palette, you probably pushed it off-screen, here is how you get it back https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Palett...

That forum is over here for next time you post https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad/ct-p/8

Hi @Anonymous,

Have you considered performing a Repair of your AutoCAD or a Reset Settings to Default to see if that restores the missing XREF window? You might also try creating a new user account, log on with it and start AutoCAD to see if things behave normally.

Please add a post with the results of these steps.

TEMP - CAD IMAGE.pngThe problem is that somehow it got nested in this thin line [HERE] on the side of my CAD window. Double clicking the line brought it out.

Thank you for all of your help and support.
