XATTACH Dialog DWG preview disappears

Every recent version of AutoCAD I use gives me the same problem.  When envoking the XATTACH command, there is usually a DWG preview to the right side of the dialog box.  At some point over time that DWG preview disappears.  I have to re-import the AutoCAD settings and that preview area of the dialog comes back.  This happens in the current version I'm using which is 2015 but it also happened regularly in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and even farther back than that.

Is there a system variable like the FILEDIA that would reset that preview display to default?

Hi,

you can control if the preview should be visible or not within the "Views" menu.

Normally you would be right.  But whatever is causing mine to disappear is also causing it to disappear from the "Views" menu as well.

That is similar however I think it is the preview from the "Open Drawing" dialog not the XATTACH.  I checked that and it is set to 1.

Wow, strange. And I have no idea how you can get it back in that state.

The only idea I have is that you make a backup from your registry, uninstall the program, reinstall it, start the XATTACH dialog (I would estimate now that it's ok), close the program ... and now compare the registry content, the current one with the backup. Maybe that brings you to a solution where to set that.

I appreciate all the effort and replies.  However, my AutoCAD still reverts back to removing the preview thumbnail when using the _XATTACH command.  I am forced to everyonce in a while re-apply my settings through the migration menu.  There has got to be a system variable that tobbles this on and off.

I'll keep searching.

So if you try the opposite (reset settings to default) you get the preview back?
