Wireframe to 3D solid

We have surveyed a set of stairs, constructed a wireframe (just lines, no polylines) from that survey, which I now need to make into a 3D-solid in order to create cross sections. My experience is mainly 2D.

Could someone outline the steps I need to take to achieve my solid? Have tried searching and YouTube without really finding where to start. Always seem that people with a similar problem are at a different starting point than me.

Had it been more homogeneous, I would've figured it out (I think), but it's not square anywhere, basically. Also, if I'm in over my head on this one, aka not for beginners, let me know. Thanks!

Brute force (but little thinking required) might be Loft and Surfsculpt (I would do the rise and runs different Colors to keep sanity).

I have always found Layers to be great friends for visibility.

I tried loft before, but I probably used it the wrong way. I'll play around with that and surfsculpt while I'm still sane! Thanks!

I did not see any Lofted surfaces in the file you attached.

It might be useful to see what you have already attempted.

I should have been more precise; "I played around with it before". Hadn't used it previously so couldn't determine whether it was the way to go or not just because I couldn't get it to work (hence why I didn't state anything about it).

Had another attempt after your tips and I think I'm finally making some headway. Kudos! 🙂
