I agree with your answer.
I went up to Windows 10 on my laptop because I do not work in this, if not another machine, I tried AutoCAD 2015 and go slow, I modified on AutoCAD everything possible to fence quicker.
Until now I could not do it. Surely when Windows 10 be official Autodesk take out patches, but in the meantime keep trying.
PS: it was it clear that "not recommended upgrading to Windows 10 if you use your machine for work." No more copying and pasting and more contributions
Thank!!!!!

Well, I just checked the Windows 10 support link again for updates and found this: "The 2013–2014 versions of AutoCAD products will not be supported on Windows 10." That's disappointing as the last time that I checked, I got the impression that they were going to try to support from 2013 forward. Since I bought 2014 and am not subscription based and do not have a pending project, I guess it's time to upgrade and see what happens. Hopefully, since I already have it installed on 8.1, I'll only have minor issues with the online help like were described earlier. Any last minute advice before I push the button? 🙂

Download a copy of Macrium Reflect Free and make an image of your hard drive onto an external drive. It's really easy to do (there are YouTube videos if you search) and it works flawlessly if you have to reset back to 8.1. Windows 10 does have the ability to roll back built into it, but Macrium is just another piece of insurance and it works perfect (I've done it a few times).

Autodesk pretty much cuts off all prior years with every new release. The fact is that many have autocad working on Windows 10.
I took a machine running Vista 32 bit and AutoCad 2007. I did a custom install of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit in place. Then I used PCmover to move all my programs that were on Vista to the new install. I then let Windows 7 Pro get all it's updates from Microsoft (around 224 updates). After that I did the free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and Autocad 2007 runs fine on that machine. I did not have to reinstall or nothing. It runs without a hitch.

With the release of SP1, AutoCAD 2016 is now officially supported on Windos 10.
Anyone got the intestinal fortitude to do the 7/8/8.1 to 10 upgrade?
Not me. For the time being I'm sticking with 64 bit 7...

Well, I did it. Thank you all for your info. On initial check everything on AutoCAD 2014 works on Windows 10 from a Windows 8 upgrade, even the help menu since I was advised ahead of time and set chrome as my default browser. Maybe I was overly cautious and making much ado about nothing but it seems that since 2014 was designed for windows 8, even with out being supported, it's close enough that it works seamlessly in the new OS. I'm sure from what I've been reading that having it pre-installed on it's native OS makes the difference, I'll keep you advised if any issues pop up during production usage.

Hello,
To provide an update on this topic and thread. The following AutoCAD versions have also been tested with Windows 10.
• AutoCAD 2016 is supported with the application of AutoCAD 2016 SP1.
• AutoCAD LT 2016 is supported with the application of AutoCAD LT 2016 SP1.
• The 2016 version of most AutoCAD-based verticals should be installable and perform as expected on Windows 10
The English language versions of AutoCAD 2015 and AutoCAD-based verticals should be installable if you have received the Windows 10 update, KB3081448 or later.
Other AutoCAD language versions and language packs can be installed if Windows 10 update, KB3105210, is applied prior to installation.
DWG TrueView 2015 can be installed if Windows 10 update, KB3105210, is applied prior to installation.
The 2013–2014 versions of AutoCAD products will not be supported on Windows 10. For all links and further information on this topic please read over the AKN Article.
Thank you for your participation. Any and all feedback and workarounds are welcomed.
Happy Posting.

I have tried installing my older 2016 version of Inventor on Windows 10 and it does not install. I get the same error 1402 as I do when I try to install 2018 version. Is there a fix for this problem?

AutoCAD 2014 LT will run on Windows 10 if you select the correct Compatibility mode.
To set this mode:
After installing AutoCAD 2014 LT,
Right click the icon for the program.
Select Properties.
Select the Compatibility tab.
Under "Compatibility mode" select Windows 8 or Windows 7
It should work now.

Hi,

Sometimes, and very much depending on which version of Windows 10 (Anniversary update, Creators update, Fall Creators update, ...) ... and the problem is not just AutoCAD start, it's sometimes the licensing service which has issues.
So from my point of view: if you are working in a professional environment and you need AutoCAD to get your daily job done DO NOT update to Windows 10 (or udpate AutoCAD). Every single update (also small updates) might break it's functionality and you can't do your work.
