What is the proper way to make Plotter files .pc3

I've been making a drawing (dwg) that will act as our template drawing. In I have page setups for each paperspace layout, so that when it comes time to publish, all the settings are already set.

But I come to find out today that the .pc3 file that I gave people has a hardcoded path to my computer for the .pmp file
(see here)

So I'm now prompted to ask, what is the proper way to

1. Make page setups
2. Make plotter/printer files (.pc3)

Should they be on the network? If so, are there any guides on how to do that.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

>>"I've been making a drawing (dwg) that will act as our template drawing."

Not a real template file (.dwt) ?

>>"But I come to find out today that the .pc3 file that I gave people has a hardcoded path to my computer for the .pmp file"

Right, because of this, choose a folder which everyone have..

Two ways: Run PLOT command and save your setting as named pagesetup (first option on top)

or run command PAGESETUP to create a new one.

>>"2. Make plotter/printer files (.pc3)"

Two ways: Edit an existing printer or .pc3 via PLOT command, right of the printer name [Properties...] and use SAVEAS

or from scratch: Use the wizzard (start command PLOTTERMANAGER, use the wizzard)

>>"Should they be on the network?"

I would advoid this way, I prefer another way (for all support data stuff):

Place those shared files in your network, the cad manager (you?) is the only one with write access

Set up a copy job (and a clean job too) for each User(windows)login, which copy your company support files to a local folder!

(for everyone the same path).

If network connection broke, the program still working.

If more than one use plot (same .pc3), there is no problem with file access, write rights (for temporary .pc3 files)

and more

I would search for Autodesk University handouts about cad management

and read 1000 posts in here in forums each year 😊 You can learn new things each week/day
