Viewport content not plotting

Screenshot 2025-11-17 114539.png

The magenta color is the viewport line, I have set it to no plot as I don't want to see the line, but the content is also not showing. I have applied this setting to other files as well but it has no problem at all. Anyone knows what is the reason of this???

Hi,

Proposals ...

  • change the viewport layer to another new one ( layer 0 ) .
  • Turn the viewport layer ON and THAW it in the Layout (VP Freeze column tab in Layer Manager).
  • Double-click inside VP then ZOOM EXTENTS. Make sure that your ZOOM EXTENTS also right in the Model layout.

“…but the content is also not showing”

Are you referring to objects inside the vport is not showing?
Could you share the dwg?

Please don't freeze or turn off defpoints. It always causes issues

as the floorplan is confidential document, so I couldn't share the dwg file.

This is a file only contain the title block frame, and inside the VP (magenta line), there is a XREF floorplan reference to this title block frame file.

The problem is i can see the content(reference XREF) in the paperspace inside the VP but when I try to plot it to pdf, the reference content is not showing in the pdf

I try to switch on the plot icon, and then it is showing again but I don't want to see the VP line.

I have other file also have the same setting( with the unplot VP layer), and it is showing the reference and without the VP line

  • make a new layout tab.
  • make a new layer called VP with a non-plot option.
  • make a new viewport with proper size and put it on VP layer.
  • click inside the viewport and bring your xref plan in it.

Is there any changes under the previous points?

You can always change the path of the xref to a different dwg. Then use the etransmit command to zip the problem dwg which would then include this xref and post that here so we can all take a look. Also make sure you have the latest AutoCAD updates installed.

"The problem is i can see the content(reference XREF) in the paperspace inside the VP but when I try to plot it to pdf, the reference content is not showing in the pdf"

What layer is the "reference XREF" inserted on? Is it a no-plot layer? (If so, you know what to do.)

If not, is the "reference XREF" something other than a DWG? Sometimes, non-DWG content just won't plot to PDF. Instead of PLOT, try using PUBLISH to plot the sheet.

I am having the same issue as well (or a similar one). I have a drawing set up with 10 layout tabs, each with several viewports (they are plan/profile drawings for a road construction project). The viewports show the elevation text on the side of the profile and the station bands at the bottom of the profile do not show any of the content. The content is visible in model space and is not on a no plot layer, a layer that is frozen in the viewport, or the def points layer. I can make these viewports active, draw a line, go to model space and see the line crossing through the text that should be visible in the viewport. Annoallvisible is set to 1. Objects in other viewports on the same layout tab display/print properly. If I recreate the viewports, they display and print properly. I realize there are work arounds (I could recreate all the viewports or copy text to the layout tab so I don't need the viewport) but that is very inconvenient and time consuming. This has happened to me with another drawing on a different project as well - same situation where it is profile elevation and station band text that doesn't display/plot. I am using Civil 3D 2026.2 (all updates installed). My colleagues are using earlier versions of Civil 2D (2024, 2025) and have no problems with these viewports. Anyone have any suggestions about what could be going on?

You may get better feedback by posting in the civil 3d forum:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/bd-p/civil-3d-forum-en

It'll be best if you can share a sample dwg with this problem when you post there
