VIEWBASE objects suddenly not visible in layout tab

Another strange issue this morning... I typically use viewbase to show 2d layouts of my 3d woodworking models. Haven't had any issues until now. When using objects placed on layout tab with VIEWBASE are visible as I place them until I conclude the command. Then they are not visible. If I window around where they should be, the blue dotted selection boxes highlight, showing something is there but not visible. View ports aren't having an issue, just VIEWBASE. Any thoughts on why?

Thanks. that helped slightly. I copy/pasted my objects from the original drawing to a new drawing and VIEWBASE works fine. Still doesn't explain why it happened. Not sure there is a legit explanation for the oddity.

I have 23 finished sheets of shop drawings. That is simply not a feasible solution.
