using mtext string values as a formula to create result field

Hi,

I am working on creating a grouped item whereby I can take two fields of data (in this case dimensions of a shape) and create a sum using these two values. the equation required would be ((dimA x dimB) x 2.5) x X.

I have attached an example of the current progress but am very much stuck at this point!

I don need the following

  • The number needs to be dynamic and always on show in the position I have displayed it.
  •  I need the number to be round down to 1 decimal point

hoping this is a simple one for the AutoCad genius's out there!

Hi,

please find the attached dwg-file where I have inserted the formulas (at least how I understood the exercise).

Just one note: if you want to use numbers from attributes or text objects as base of calculation don't add units or other characters to that attribute, text, .. as AutoCAD would not be able to handle this as number then.

Hi,

that is exactly what I wanted the object to do! would you mind sharing (by steps) how you select the field in the formula string.

and thank you again, even if I don't understand how it works, it works!
