Using Array in 2015

I have recently moved from 2011 to 2015, and have a couple of queries about the Array command.

First question is, when you start the Array command and the dialogue box opens up on the ribbon, if you decide you dont want to continue the command and simply press Escape, it does get close the dialogue box but does actually carry out the array as per what was in the setting boxes? And is there a variable or something to change that stops it showing what the array will look like until i actually finish the command and press Close Array?

second question, on the attached, the 2011 dialogue box at the top had two buttons, highlighted in yellow, where you could pick on screen the distances for the column and row offsets, i cant see such an option to do on the 2015 version, only entry for a numerical value? Is there no way to choose on screen by selecting two points the distances for the array, instead of typing in the value? i cant even see a way to measure  a distance while the array command is active, so you need to know the values to enter before you start the command?

thank you!

The contextual Ribbon tab provides some options, there are also inputs you can use at the command line, plus grips in the drawing area.  The array is an intelligent object (unless you explode it) so you can also adjust it after creation:

If you liked the old style dialog box for setting up your array, you can still access it by using the command ARRAYCLASSIC. I still prefer to use that for polar arrays. The new array command is nice for using the path array and even the rectangular array once you get used to it.

You can always use ARRAYCLASSIC command to get the familiar dialog.
