Update Date on a block - Edit Attribute Definition

Good afternoon,

I'm new with Cad drawings and using this forum, therefore, please let me know if I am doing something wrong.

I'm trying to update the date from a block that I am using on a DWG. The problem is that I tried everything that I could find on-line but this field does not update at all.

I tried:

1) The command "updatefield" - it did not work

2) I tried "save as" to see if this field would update - it did not work

3) I also tried "regen" to see if this field would update - it did not work

4) I checked the date using the command "date" - the date is correct

I also tried to select a different "Date format". However, the date updated for "----".

Am I missing something here? Does anybody have any idea?

I am attaching some imeges that may help demonstrate the problem.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Fabio Soares

you can try BATTMAN and ATTSYNC

Or could you try recreating the field?

from my experience once some one has manually changed a field, its toast and reverts to a run of the mill attribute.

Hi @Anonymous,

It looks like you have tried to correct this in a lot of ways. Is it possible to attach the block so I can take a look and make recommendations?

Hi @Anonymous,

Guess what? It works fine for me.  I opened your block in Block Editor (BE), checked that the field was set correctly (To PlotDate). I then saved the block, plotted the dwg to a PDF and then did a regen. Everything looks fine.

Obviously (without screwing up my own workstation) I couldn't change the date immediately to see how it would update, I did go into the block definition and change the format of the field and repeated the process several times. I noticed that you did have some Proxy Object warnings. I don't think thesee are related to your question but I wanted to make sure that you knew they existed and if intentional great otherwise I would clean them out.

I have attached my copy of the file as well as a video to show you the steps I used.

Hello @Anonymous, run the command FIELD. It must be a system variable or it won't read the same as your computer. Run REGEN if needed afterwards. Any date format is fine.

Use what I showed you in the date blocks or make sure the blocks are using a system varible.

The video was helful. The truth is that I was doing the wrong order of steps. After following the video provided, I was able to update the date without problems.

Thank you for your help and support.
