Unable to detach the xref in the file

Hi All,

Have been trying to detach the x-ref file from the parent one.  Tried different ways to remove it, but unable to do so. Any help would be of great use.

The reference is probably located in a block, so it can't be resolved.
According to my research, the reference is located in the "window 05" block.
Open it in the block editor and delete the reference there, or resolve the block to its original location to resolve the reference.

Your XREF is inside something else in your file, so the posted DWG file is not the "parent", and XREF command by-design will not let you detach it 'remotely'.

What does the XREF "Purva Westend 2_1ST FLOOR PLAN_WD" look like?

Well, I have lost the file "Purva Westend 2_1ST FLOOR PLAN_WD"

Just create a new blank dwg with that name and save it in the same location. Now you can reload that and detach it.

Hello @madhuryya_prakash 

Begin by creating a blank drawing. Then, open the drawing from which you are unable to detach the XREF. Type XREF to open the External References palette. Locate and select the XREF that is causing the issue. Update its saved path to point to the blank drawing you created earlier—this will allow the XREF to load successfully. Once loaded, right-click on the XREF and choose Bind. Image for reference.
