TrueType Font Brush Script MT not displaying properly when typed in AutoCAD 2013

I am trying to use a TrueType font. According to online searches, AutoCAD can use TrueType fonts and Open Type fonts that use TrueType outlines. Brush Script MT falls under this criteria according to the window when it is open, yet it still shows up in AutoCAD 2013 as Standard when I start typing. The font is showing in AutoCAD 2013 MText pull down font menu, but when selected only shows up as standard. Can anyone help me figure out how to get this font to show up?

Is the font installed in Windows? Can you use it in other apps such as Word/Excel?

Yes, it shows up just fine in all other programs.

BrushScriptMT is only avalaible as an Italic and seems to work fine here

Are you setting it correctly where you need it to be used?

That only works if I have restarted AutoCAD from scratch. If I do that, Brush Script MT will show up properly until I type any other font in Bold or remove italics (not even on the Brush Script). But if I type another font or remove the italics Brush Script MT will show up as standard until I completely restart AutoCAD (starting a new drawing does not work).

You either have a bad installation, something else is going on to break a fresh install after a while or you are using Win10.

Log into Windows as a new and different user with all Admin credentials and see if you can replicate the problem.

Not using Windows 10. I attempted what you suggested and I can replicate the problem as another user with Admin credentials.

Perhaps I should reinstall the font then? I learned about the TTF vs Open Type Font while searching for the solution to this issue so I don't think it has much to do with the second link. When you type in Brush Script, if you highlight it and try to make it bold or take the italics off, does it turn to standard?

TTF fonts defined as bold or script cannot be undone: you need to find a separate font for that.

A reinstall as directed by that link could not hurt.

Hi @TechJ

I created a style using this font in a AutoCAD 2017 drawing.

I started Mtext and entered the first sentence with that style.

Next I copied it twice and applied a bold override and then removed the Italic.

As you can see from this image, AutoCAD 2017 handles these changes fairly well even though the font is defined as an "Italic" style cursive font.

When I open this same drawing in AutoCAD 2014, only the first line looks correct. The font is apparently not rendered correctly as it does not have the capability in 2014 to handle the overrides in the same manner as 2017
