TRIM command stopped working

Up until recently, I could selec objects, run trim, then click wires/wire sections to delete. Now, when I run the command, my wires through solids just completely disappear! Here's an example:

Before running command (I want line left of the arrow trimmed):

Running TRIM, and whole line disappears:

This is the hint that says me what already you should tell us!

You are running Autodesk <AutoCAD?> Version 2021

Next time please, add product&version information to your thread, thx

I am pretty sure, that's not right. pre2021 can not trim with a solid as cutting edge.

I think you had another type of object there, or a special program extensiuon (no native AutoCAD command).

Windows 10, 8GB RAM, AutoCad LT 2021. No add-ons, just stock, vanilla AutoCad. Trimming my wires on the triangles has always worked up until very recently.

It's not a question of the shape, it is a question of Objecttyp and Autocad don't know "Triangles".

Select the "triangle", check your propertie palette.

Objecttype SOLID?  -> impossible that this works in the past or today (hopeful the english name is solid)

Objecttype HATCH?  -> impossible that this works in the past or today.

I guess you had a polyline around the solid or hatch and you trimmed at this polyline.

Today, i don't know why, there is no boundary object and trim can not find a valid cutting edge object.

PS: Normaly this triangle should be a BLOCK/reference. unusally and not clever to use plain solid or hatchs.

Post your actual DWG file please.

Yes, it is a BLOCK type. I used the wrong object as an example, but the problem remains: if I draw a LINE over a LINE, or over a POLYLINE, or over a BLOCK, then run TRIM & try to select them, they all DISAPPEAR - no matter what, the lines just disappear when I do the initial selection!

Hi,

>> then run TRIM & try to select them, they all DISAPPEAR

Can you please upload a drawing with these 2 lines, one time before you run _TRIM and the other time after you run _TRIM (just one time).

Also please let us know which version of AutoCAD you have (as the workflow of _TRIM changed a bit with 2021).

You didn't answer the product/version Question, please confirm that  i am right with 2021

and if so,  that your TRIMEXTENDMODE is set to 1?

>": if I draw a LINE over a LINE, or over a POLYLINE,.... then run TRIM

Please start a new file,

draw two crossing lines

Still a problem with trimming by this worksteps:

Command: trim

<move cursor to one of the line you want to trim>

2. How you can ask well for help:

Upload a sample DWG with only relevant objects. and Screenshot (screenshot with the REAL situation, showing a real situation of this sample file)

Write down your trim settings: Trimextendmode ProjMode TrimEdge
Write with which setting you work.
