Text Editor/Ruler

Here's the situation.

I have my cover sheet with columns of notes.

I zoom out far enough so that when i double click, or ddedit,  the text, the text i selected gets bigger (the drawing doesn't zoom in, the text automatically gets bigger ; mtextfixed = 2)

My problem is that when I pan down my column of text, the ruler on top is hidden behind the "Text Editor" Ribbon (with the cancel/save buttons on the right. and I can't access the ruler anymore.

Is there anyway to fix this without restarting cad every time it happens?

Can't you just move the text editor panel? Click and hold the title bar and move it?

Maybe I'm not undestanding you correctly.

I think I get what you mean, but a screenshot would help all of us with the uncertainty about what you're actually describing.

Assuming you're using the "internal" editor, I think you're just going to have to zoom out enough so that you can see the ruler and see the text at the same time.

Sounds like what you'd like (need) is a vertical scrollbar inside the editor window.

One option that comes to mind is to change your text editor to an external editor application that gives you the control you want.

Not very satisfying, I know.

Can you show us a screenshot and list your AutoCAD and Widnows versions? I can't replicate that here in R2016 or R2015, the ruler slides up or down and stays below the ribbon for me always.

Hey,

I'm using Autocad 2013 on the latest Mac OS, 'El Capitan.'

DJ - For Mac at least I can't click and drag it, I'll dig around to see if there's an "unlock toolbar" setting like they have for some of the PC version toolbars.

I uploaded screenshots of what usually happens when I use the native text editor.  I noticed that it's very jumpy, and it does try to keep the ruler under the text editor panel. It randomly works, but gets buried if you pan or zoom.

Thanks,

This only ever becomes an issue when I'm editing big columns of notes.  Even though it's an extra step I think you're right about using a different text editor.  Especially with the annoying features this version of CAD has, like how I can't type a character or word followed by a symbol (no spaces) without it trying to automatically turn it into a list when i press enter.

2013 is not supported in El Capitan, no fix planned by Autodesk:

For future reference, the MAC forum is here http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac/ct-p/3011
