Hi @Anonymous,

Have you checked TABLESTYLE to see what color setting have been applied?

Yes, it doesn't seem to change anything in the preview even when i set it to byblock. When i set the various cell styles (data, header, title, etc) to by block it reverts back to blue. When i go from cell style to cell style the color always goes back to blue. This was not a table that i created.

The table is nested in a block. The block in on my text layer & inside the block the table is on layer 0 with the color of byblock

The issue is the Table Style. You have two options.

  1. Go to Annotate tab=>Tables panel=>Table Icon. Select WENDYs from the table style dropdown, then edit the syle.
  2. Select the table, then in the Properties Palette, Table section, shange the table style from WENDYs to another existing style. If the existing style you choose is all black, then you'll get an all black table because your chosen style is black. If the chosen style has funky colors like WENDYs, then you'll get funky colors again.

Warning: A new table style may not only affect the border color of a cell, it impacts everything, i.e. font, background fill, justification, vertical and horizontal cell margins, cell type, data type, text rotation etc. etc. etc.

The only other style in there is the autocad default. i thought i could just edit the wendy's style to suit my needs. maybe i will have to create a new table style. i was hoping there would be a quick fix but maybe i was wrong

Of course there's a quick fix. It's simple as 1, 2, 3. You edit WENDYs style.

  1. Anno Tab=>Tables Panel=>Table Icon.
  2. Select Wendy's from dropdown.Select Wendy's from dropdown.Select Wendy's from dropdown.
  3. Click modify. Then change the border colors.Click modify then change the border color.Click modify then change the border color.

yeah, i did this before but the thing i didn't know to do was to hit the apply to all borders button. I got it to work except for one line. i cannot get that one to update but thats ok, im not going to worry about it. i've probably spent too much time on this already

That was it. Thanks very much. i guess with a table you can change a lot of stuff individually like mtext where the table style doesn't necessarily control it.

By default, every table will have at lease 3 categories of cells: Title, Header, and Data. If you modify the border color for one category, it will modify only that individual category, it doesn't necessarily mean it will apply to all three. To verify which category a cell belongs to, highlight an individual cell, and look in the properties palette. Cells are typically categorized 'by row.'

Each category is also subjected to font style, text height, fill color, justification, and data type. Tables are also capable of doing a limited amount of math functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, and COUNT.

yes, i modified all three categories "Title, Header, and Data" in the table style & applied the color change to all borders but it would not change those individual cell borders until i clicked inside the cell & modified the color of the border in my equipment schedule table.
