System variables no longer recognized as commands

Hello all,

I'm working in 2021 now and before in 2019 I could type most system variable names at the command prompt and change/set them.  That is not happening on my 2021 installation.  Is there a system variable or anything else that controls this behavior which I can set to return to the older behavior?

More details please: which exact variables did you type in R2019 that are no longer found in R2021? And in which of the three variants you list in your sig-block is the issue?

I don't think it's that they're "no longer found."  I think it's about using a System Variable name at the Command prompt, but having it not recognized "as if" it's a command name.  [That was always the way back in the early years.]  So, @hencoop, to clarify, when you type a System Variable name, what do you get?  An Unknown-command message?  Or something else?  Does it still work to use the SETVAR command and then give it the name?  And what about the (setvar) AutoLisp function?  Is the problem the same with all System Variables, or only some of them?

The system variable name that I had just entered at the command line to set which prompted this post is PLINETYPE.  I cannot use several others that I had used before, NAVVCUBEDISPLAY is one.  Do you know what changed?

My signature contains what AutoCAD Civil 3D 2021 displayed in the "About" window on the day I edited it.  Today it looks like this (AutoCAD 2021 has apparently been updated since I edited my signature).  From AutoCAD's "About" information, it appears that all of these "variants" are involved in my single installation of AutoCAD Civil 3D 2021.

@Kent1Cooper I get a suggestion (other than what I'm after... or else nothing).  Well, checking again, it varies: NAVVC will only suggest NAVVCUBE... but I typed out the full variable name and I got what I expected for NAVVCUBEDISPLAY.  I tried that with PLINETYPE and it strips off the P and gives me the LINETYPE dialog.... every time... even when nothing has been suggested (which is the case when I type it in fully).

@Kent1Cooper SETVAR still works as expected.  Maybe it has something to do with my Command line input settings or search options.  I did do something different with those in 2021 than I had done in 2019.  I kept getting suggestions so quickly that it would change it before I could hit the [Enter] key.

@pendean , @Kent1Cooper  It turns out I had unchecked the "Search System Variables" box in the Input Search Options.  All I needed was to check that box again.

Thanks for your help.
