Copy command constantly triggers Circle

Copy command constantly triggers Circle

WHY ? and how can this be changed ? No, not interested in reformatting and changing the CO command to C - because that is the circle command 25 years ago and today

same for Mirror ??? MI always triggers Move ???

Many others ... SL goes to Stretch

ok when i type real slow it works ... but that is so sad

3D ... 2D slice command no longer works in certain instances ???

3D rotate along an axis ??? disappeared ?

Just venting because if you have a command and you had it for 30 years - keep it - so old guys like me can use it

I would suggest all cars for software developers should have the gas pedal and break pedal switched - just so you look like a complete idiot when you drive. (hey, in rush hour you use the break more often than the gas - that is why we switched it - Karl and Gottlieb or Henry in the US were fools to use the pedals the other way )

have a good day

If you allow AutoCAD to assist you in typing the command (suggest the one you want) it will often give you what you don't want... unless you wait longer than the delay you have set.  Try either turning off suggestions or setting the delay to a longer time so it won't suggest something before you are done.

What's really sad is users criticizing the program BEFORE looking for a solution,

Sorry, the command didn't change. If you don't like change, don't update.

You need to uncheck AutoComplete and AutoCorrect on the command line.

Click the wrench icon > Input Settings > uncheck both items.

This is the default answer everyone gives yet guess what guys IT DOES NOT WORK!! there is a delay in the command line you cannot get rid of since about 2018. You can turn off autocorrect and search delay all you want the fact of the matter is still that I can work faster and smoother in 2006 AutoCAD than the current release? does that not bother you guys?

Not at all. I much prefer the right click modify menu, though.

Those settings should work. Have you tried turning all those settings off and then back on one at a time to see which one, or combination, is causing your delay?

It could also be a computer issue. Have you tried a different machine?

My man I have tried everything under the sun. I read this post too quickly and realized this post isn't really about command line delay so sorry about that. I have it all turned off but  its just too slow. I use shortcuts command all keyboard and mouse so for the copy command for example I can type CO-Enter in the blink of and eye too fast for cad i guess cause I always end up getting circle buy the time I hit enter is hasn't even registered the second letter I typed  same for other commands

SC for scale and I get stretch

MA for match prop i get move

MI for mirror i get move

Yet when I load up my old 2006 student version its lighting fast same CPU like I can try with all my might to trip it up and it preforms awesome. So if you have truly found a way im open to ideas

@nikm42Q9N Post a screencast video of your issue in action, we all have R2018 and newer so if it exists we will all see it together, right? If not, then the issue is just at your end.

Note: If R2006 is dead, but you are welcome to keep using it until your PC hiccups and kills it off with a reauthorization need, no one around here really cares what ancient software use or how brilliant it is. Just sayin'.

To avoid getting default answers in the future, it is helpful to post the things you have already tried.

There is a big difference in features/bloat (whichever you prefer to call it) between AutoCAD 2006 and 2018 onward (or maybe 2017 onward; I never used 2017).  I will say the newer versions have become sluggish on my home setup (8 years old), but my 3-year-old work computer still handles it relatively fine.

I'm glad it works good for you dude. My computer is not that old

I7-Prosseser

AMD fire pro- Graphics Card

 16GB memory

IT handles Revit like a dream so I am really at a lost.

I've turned off input delay and auto correct, re installed updated patches

If you turn off Hardware Acceleration (enter GRAPHICSCONFIG at command line), does that speed things up?  If so, it could be related to your FirePro graphics drivers.  You might try to see if a newer driver version helps.

Are your Properties and Layer Properties Manager palettes closed?  Those can slow things down some.  Command line floating or docked?  I think docking it has helped some in the past.

Other than that, I'm out of ideas without knowing more specific details about your setup and how you've configured AutoCAD.  As has been suggested, a Screencast might help shine more light on the situation.

I've used the drivers recommend by Autodesk and made sure they are using Direct X 11. But no turning off acceleration does not do anything. So there Is no delay anywhere else in the program I can make complex 3d objects and orbit and pan just fine it switch's tabs super fast and also hatch's without problems. Its just that split seconded delay on the command line that gets me I have no other complaints about the software. I've went through all my settings with Autodesk Support a month or two ago and they got the thing going really good. I used to get hung up switching from model space to papers pace

And docking or undocking the command line (the opposite of how you have it now) was no help?  What if you turn the command line off and use Dynamic Input.  Does it still lag that way?

i will try that but why do i have to cripple the software to use it like i have for the past 10 years? there is no lag the CPU is not freezing up or stalling its just the commands even with auto search and complete turned off it feels like its still looking in an index somewhere still. But say i star the line command and when typing in numbers and distances for lines there is no delay

Well, right now we're just trying to narrow down the precise problem.  A better diagnosis will hopefully lead to an actual solution, either through other users here or through Autodesk (via your Autodesk account, provided you have one).
