snapping to center of circular or cylindrical xref objects

Why does the snapping to the center of circular objects seem off in Autocad. Sometimes, I can restart the drawing and it will give me the correct center snap.

How can it "seem" to be off? It is or it isn't.

What does restart the drawing mean? Close and open?

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Let me rephrase, it is not showing the center of the circle snap in the correct location. Yes restarting the drawing i should have said closed and reopened the drawing for your clarification.

I'm using the 3dpolyline command and when I hover over each circle, i was expecting the center of the circle to have the + shown and then i would snap to the center, but on the arcs, it is not working.

Hi,

i am not sure what the issue is, the User (how you acting and how are your setting - in combination)

or a real program-problem.

The only thing i can do: TRY to help.

What is your AUTOSNAP setting, what is your OSMODE (running object snap modes) setting?

Is is possible to share the file ?  (you can delete all, except all objects we can see in your Screenshot)

The + marks the center of arcs and circle (also arc/circle shapes of 3dsolid or plines)

With the right autosnap mode:

The SNAP-POINT appears in (default)green at the point of the current detected snap point.

the shape of the green mark will also specify for the object snap mode.

Which object snap mode is used for the current detected snap point you can see by the autosnap QuickInfo, too.

you want a CENTER snap only

Which point is detected currently is also depending of you  cursor path/way before.

_

If you like, you can share your file (delete all except the objects we can see in your screenshot).

After looking at it again yesterday, you're correct. The + being given appears to be the center of an arc that the curve (conduit) is being created from in inventor. This dwg I'm working with was exported from a large assembly. I have found a work around that gets me close to what I need, but out of curiosity, is there a way to snap to the center of the cylinder that goes along the curve of the arc, instead of the center of the circle/arc that is being used to create the cylinder?

If my translate is correct: No, not so easy.

But perhaps i am wrong,

the best way is.... yes. Upload a sample(dwg) and mark the position you want to snap.
