Snap/Selection Tool

I am trying to draw a line from a vertex but the extruded surface is in the way not allowing me to reference the vertex. All extruded surfaces follow same issue. Is there a command I can used to change the snap/selection mode. I have exacerbated all possible commands with no luck. See photo below.

You might have missed trying to use the tab button to cycle through available snaps.

Didn’t work, any other thoughts?

Still no image.  It's hard to tell without one what you're dealing with.  Could "the extruded surface is in the way" mean that in your current Visual Style that surface is opaque, and you just can't see the vertex you're after, to be able to tell when Osnap goes to it with Tabbing through the available Osnap locations?  What if you change the Visual Style to one in which you can see through the surface [2D Wireframe, or X-ray, or something]?
