SLDASM to DWG Fails...

Hello,

A customer sent a Solidworks file, the file is a SLDASM, I following the instructions HERE and sadly AutoCad 2019 says the file is unsupported. Any ideas? Or does another conversion method exist? I know nothing about SolidWork, so I'm at a loss...

Would anyone be willing to post a SLDASM file that I could test to see if it is the process I'm doing or if it is the file that I was given?

Thank you!

I understand that this an AutoCAD forum, I'm trying to help our client get the SolidWorks file to us...I'm hoping some can guide me.

After reading more about SolidWorks, it would appear that to be able to open a SolidWorks (SLDASM) file I would need all accompanying files... is that correct? If I sent these instructions, https://www.fisherunitech.com/blog/how-to-use-the-pack-and-go-file-management-feature-in-solidworks/ the files sent in the ZIP would allow me to successfully open the file in AutCAD 2019 correct?

Sorry!

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, i think the pack-n-go would be helpful to ensure you got all of the files that make up the assembly.  I suspect that Going through Inventor or Fusion 360 before AutoCAD would make this much easier. Can you share some files? I would like to see if I can get them into AutoCAD for you.

Hi John,

Thank you for writing so quickly, I just emailed the client and suggested that they use Pack and Go, as soon I have the files I will let you know what happens. If I can't get them converted, may I send them to you directly, for safety concerns?

Talk soon!

Hi @Anonymous,

You are more than welcome to email the files to me at [email protected] or if they are too big then toss them on a could storage site and share them with me that way.

Have a good weekend.
