Shortcuts in enu\Recents folder

Checking inside my enu/Recents folder reveals that some of the folders contain thousands of shortcuts dating back quite some time, particularly the BrowseforPlotFilePlotDlg and Save Drawing As folders.

Can I safely delete the contents of the folders in the Recents directory?

Reading the above link it would appear to be safe to delete everything in these folders. I assume that any file in regular use would just reappear.
