Sheet Layout Tabs in AutoCAD 2017

Hello, 

I just got 2017 LT. How do you add sheet tabs in paper space? 

I see that the sheet tabs have been moved and reconfigured, but I can't figure out how to add a sheet under the new system.

1. Click the [+] tab, which is to the right of your last layout tab.
2. Type in LAYOUT, use the New option.
3. Right-click on any layout tab, choose New.
4. Numbers 2 and 3 also allow you to copy an existing layout to make a new one.

Thank you. From what I can see that +tab creates a new drawing. I just want to create a new sheet for my drawing set.

I don't see a similar + tab in the pull-down icons for my existing sheets.

Make sure you are looking at the bottom of your AutoCAD Window.

and not the top.

Thanks for replying. However there is nothing except for a small command
line at the bottom of my autocad window.

They are on.

I have the sheet tabs. THats not the problem. The problem is I can't add a sheet.

I guess I am moving slowly this morning as I am not understanding your issue.  Can you take a screenshot or better yet create a Screencast to show me the problem?

That does help actually but it seems like a really clunky way of getting there, and it's really hard to name the sheet, and move it where you want it, and it seems like I have to insert the titleblock again.

I'm sure I'm doing multiple things wrong but this is where I'm at.

This is the way I utilize the tabs. Is this not performing as expected for you?

@Anonymous - not trying to be snarky or rude, but we can't see your screen.

Use the snipping tool in Windows 7/8/10 and take some screenshots and include them in your post.

If you're more adventurous - download the ScreenCast app like @john.vellek used and post the animation here.

Otherwise, once we get 10 or so posts into what should be a simple issue here, we are all wasting more time than needed, and it probably gets frustrating on your part hearing all of the suggestions that don't work (because we are guessing).

I don't see the tabs at the bottom of your screen. (In fact, I don't see the whole taskbar menu icons at the bottom!) Is the Windows task bar covering them up? is your AutoCAD window maximized on your screen?

You say you have these but I don't see them in your screen shot (see post #6 to turn them on)This is what mine looks like at the bottom left corner of my AutoCAD window:

Yeah, that's how I'm used to the bottom of the screen looking but since I got 2017 it doesn't. My tabs are located toward the top, and like I said I can't figure out how to add sheets to drawing sets. It seems like it must be a simple fix but I don't know what it is.

In the past when I upgraded to a new format I would select the classic screen so I could continue to work with something I was familiar with. This option must still exist in 2017 LT right?

Hi @Anonymous,

The ones I see towards the top of your window are filetabs and not layout tabs.

It looks like your interface didn't totally load.

Can you perform a Reset Settings to Default to see if that helps? Another option is to create a new user account (full administrator) and logon and then start AutoCAD to see if the problem persists.

[Edit] the Classic mode is no longer an automatic option but must be created manually

Typing in CUI allowed me to get the tabs back at the bottom. But then autocad immediately crashed, which is what was happening every 30 seconds with 2012, which is why I bought 2017. So I'm a little nervous now, but will see what happens when I open back up and start working.

I have the tabs now but it still won't let me make a new tab. I click the + and it asks me to Enter new layout name, but it doesn't actually let me do it.

Why do they have to make these changes!!!??? Does anybody actually like them?
