I am a casual user that updates the school map for my High School. Currently, each room has a single-line text element where I type in the assigned teacher's name. I have to change these assignments every year as teachers leave and come, or change rooms. That leaves me scrolling around the Map, manually changing names on the rooms, and their emergency drill locations, which are text on a different layer.
I looked at using fields, but it looked like I was limited to 20 entries for custom drawing properties. I would be nice if I could do something similar to mail merge in Office products. My goal would be to just have a spreadsheet with Room numbers and Names. The room numbers would be static data, and the names would change as needed when I need to update the map.
When I update the names in the spreadsheet, the map would automatically put the teacher's name in the correct text box on the map, in their assigned rooms. I would like to share the file but due to district policy I cannot share maps of my school. However here is a snippnet. Lets say Hall, Fowler, and Peake left. I just want to go to my spreadsheet and update the room assignments, and anywhere that Hall, Fowler, or Peake was in the map would change to the new teacher's name.
