Saving problem in Autocad

For some reason,  I am not able to save my work in AutoCAD 2021. I am manually saving my work after every few minutes but when I open the DWG file again to work on it, the work inside is completely missing.  A few times it was available on the start page but now it's completely gone.

This hasn't happened before. I don't understand why to is doing this.

Please Help

It's best to always open drawings from AutoCAD instead of double-clicking in file explorer.

When you saved the drawing was it confirmed on the command line?

Are you saving the drawing locally or on a server?

If you use SaveAs instead you get to see the folder location and the file size it was last saved as. If the file size and date are not changing when saving your work my first guess would be that you don't have needed permissions to that folder.

Yes, every time I saved the drawing confirmed on the command line; qsave command.
and I am saving it locally.
I am not using the SaveAs, I am simply saving it.

The first thing I would check is the directory permissions where you are saving. Often when the directory is read-only AutoCAD will save it to a temp file. Also, try saving to a directory that you know you can write a file to. Reboot AutoCAD as well for good measure, it sounds like there could be a hangup in the program.

If the target folder was read-only it would tell the user when the drawing was opened.

It would also tell the user during the QSAVE.

And it would not make a TMP file (since it would not have WRITE access).

Now if there was a network glitch during the editing process, I have seen AutoCAD mark the file RO in flight, but even then, a QSAVE would generate a warning.

It is possible that a QSAVE is not completing because of an error (the BAK file being "in-use" is one I've seen), and then the TMP file will get created, but no DWG. There is a warning associated with this, but it could be command line only, and if the user only has 1 (or no) command line visible, it will go unnoticed.

Hello and good morning, sir. You are correct about the notification from AutoCAD about read-only. I have had, however, our network connection fail mid-edit on a non-read-only file, and the save function creates a temporary save file, as the original file location status changed to read-only post opening the original file. This is usually only a message in the command line and is easy to overlook if one is not paying attention. Usually, this scenario occurs when IT backs up the server, and the next save will rewrite the saved file. This often results in edits not being properly saved.
