I use Civil 3D, but this seems like a generic AutoCAD issue, so I am posting here.
We received a drawing from an architect. I always do at least two saved views, "1" for an overall (not dview twisted) if I need to zoom back quickly, and "2" if I work in the drawing dview twisted, again so I can zoom back quickly. I did that here when I received the file.
I work almost exclusively in view "2". I go into paperspace and all is fine, but when I go back to modelspace it defaults back to view "1" (non-dview twisted)... every single time, no matter what the view rotation was prior.
I even tried starting a new drawing with a known template from our own office, inserted the architect's file, and got the same result. Also tried working with UCS, etc.
I am attaching the Autocad file, if needed. Please remember this file started elsewhere and I do not know what they did. Thanks.
Edit: I normally create saved views from the command line, not the dialog box, but I tried even that here.

when in model tab set UCSFOLLOW to 0
then your view 2 will stay even after going to 36x24 layout
That did it. Thank you. 🙂
glad to have helped...cheers!!!
