Rotating Text and Dimensions with Layout Rotation

How can I have dimensions and text match the angle of my viewport automatically? Note that I never rotate the UCS in model space (as I bring linework in from external consultants and ArcGIS), but to get the desired angle in the viewport, I use ALGINSPACE or VSPACE > Align > Rotate view and rotate my VP that way since the majority of my drawings are plans/maps.

The issue is that when I create aligned dimensions, sometimes they appear upside down or at awkward angles. This is usually find in model space, as it finds the best veritcal and view direction placement, but once I return to paper space (which is rotated differently than model space), the dimensions and text are only relative to model space.

Do I have to create an annotative text dimesion style? Do I have to change my UCS in model space? I like to keep things unchanged so I'm not too familiar on this.

Hi,

Making your items annotative will resolve the issue for TEXT, MTEXT, Attributes, etc..

The best way is to rotate it from VP layout.

You're right...

You can always Follow the way that at the end you get your need.

Okay so I think I figured out what I was trying to accomplish and it was easier than I thought... maybe I was just typing in the wrong keywords when looking for a solution to the problem.

Prior to labelling, I chose a new UCS:

Then I picked two points to create the new X-axis.

These will be the same points I use when using the ALIGNSPACE command in my viewport in Layout View.

As far as I can tell, annotative text really only solves the issue of scalling. But in this case, I wanted all text to be rotated relative to the angle of my viewport, and all aligned dimensions to follow the ISO standard at that angle. Doing it this way (without the need for annotative text/dimensions) seems to haveworked.
